Invisible Cities brought the work of Davit Botchorishvili and Lawrence Becks into dialogue within the temporary setting of a Tribeca office building. Removed from the conventions of the white-cube gallery, the exhibition occupied corridors, workspaces, windows, and transitional areas, allowing the architecture to function as an active threshold rather than a neutral container.

The title evokes the multiple cities that coexist within a single urban environment: the city that is visible and inhabited, and those formed through memory, projection, absence, and imagination. Within this setting, artworks became interruptions in the building’s familiar rhythms, revealing perceptual and psychological spaces beneath its functional surfaces.

Through proximity and spatial arrangement, the two practices generated shifting relationships between object and environment, presence and absence, recognition and uncertainty. Visitors encountered the exhibition through movement, continually negotiating changing sightlines and unexpected juxtapositions. Invisible Cities invited attention toward what ordinarily remains overlooked, proposing the urban environment as an unstable field shaped as much by perception and memory as by physical architecture.
